बोकारो जिला के तेनुघाट रेंज अंतर्गत तुलबुल क्षेत्र में अवैध लकड़ी तस्करों ने कानून को खुली चुनौती दे दी। हाथियों की मौजूदगी की सूचना पर गश्त कर रही क्विक रिस्पांस टीम (QRT) ने जब जंगल में अवैध कटाई करते लोगों को रंगे हाथ पकड़ा और लकड़ी जब्त की, तो माफियाओं का असली चेहरा सामने आ गया। वापसी के दौरान आरोपियों के परिजन और कथित असामाजिक तत्वों ने टीम को रास्ते में घेर लिया। देखते ही देखते पथराव और लाठी-डंडों से हमला शुरू हो गया। इस हमले में 5 वनकर्मी घायल हो गए और विभाग के 3 वाहन क्षतिग्रस्त कर दिए गए।
सवाल उठता है कि क्या तस्करों को प्रशासन का डर खत्म हो चुका है? वन विभाग ने आरोपियों को आदतन अपराधी बताते हुए FIR और वन अधिनियम के तहत कार्रवाई की तैयारी शुरू कर दी है। लेकिन बड़ा सवाल यही है—क्या माफियाओं पर लगाम लगेगी या जंगल यूं ही कटते रहेंगे?

बोकारो जिले में अपराधियों का मनोबल इस कदर बढ़ चुका है कि अब वर्दीधारी भी सुरक्षित नहीं। एक दिन पहले ही बेरमो अनुमंडल के जारंगडीह खुली खदान में कोयला चोरों ने ड्यूटी पर तैनात महिला होमगार्ड जवान की बेरहमी से पिटाई कर दी थी।
अब ताजा मामला तेनुघाट रेंज का है, जहां लकड़ी तस्करों ने QRT पर जानलेवा हमला कर दिया। लगातार दो घटनाओं ने साबित कर दिया है कि बोकारो में अवैध कारोबारियों का नेटवर्क मजबूत होता जा रहा है। स्थानीय मजदूरों और ग्रामीणों में भारी आक्रोश है। उनका कहना है कि दिनदहाड़े कोयला और लकड़ी की तस्करी हो रही है, लेकिन सुरक्षा एजेंसियां मूकदर्शक बनी हुई हैं।
यह सिर्फ दो घटनाएं नहीं, बल्कि सिस्टम पर सीधा हमला हैं। अगर समय रहते सख्त कार्रवाई नहीं हुई, तो जंगल और खदान दोनों अपराधियों के हवाले हो जाएंगे।
Forest Mafia Turns Violent: QRT Attacked in Tenughat, Five Forest Guards Injured
In Bokaro district, law enforcement faced open defiance when a Quick Response Team (QRT) of them Forest Department was attacked in the Tenughat Range area. Acting on information about elephant movement, the patrol team intercepted illegal loggers and seized freshly cut timber. While returning, the accused, along with relatives and local antisocial elements, blocked the road and launched a violent assault using stones and sticks. Five forest personnel were injured and three departmental vehicles were damaged. The injured are undergoing treatment at a hospital in Gomia.
The incident comes a day after a similar challenge to authority in the Bermo subdivision, where coal thieves allegedly assaulted a woman Home Guard at the Jarangdih open-cast mine. Together, these back-to-back attacks expose the growing confidence of illegal networks involved in timber and coal smuggling. The Forest Department has initiated FIRs under the Forest Act, but the larger question remains: will strict action finally curb the mafia menace?
